Just a quick little post on our experience the other day in the Argyll countryside. If you ever get a chance to book an interactive falconry experience, definitely do it. We spent an entire afternoon with these beautiful birds of prey and had a great time.
Paul the owner and master falconer at Finn Falconry was exceptional. Not to mention a kindred spirit since both he and Mike were in the fire service. The fire department is a brotherhood, so when you meet a fellow firefighter, wherever you are on the planet there is an instant bond.
Anyway, since I am not the ‘outdoorsy’ type (I know huge shocker) I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, especially in the pouring rain. But despite the weather, it was actually fascinating— especially interacting with the birds.
We were bit limited on what we could do, because we had to wait for breaks in the rain, which was more for our benefit than the birds. Like Paul said, “Birds are waterproof”…and actually so was I. Yes, I am still bragging about my fancy plastic pants.
So in the end, it turned out to be a thumbs up adventure! I love new and different experiences when we travel, and this was definitely one of those. If you ever get to the western highlands of Scotland, make sure to check out Paul and his birds at Finn Falconry
That’s it friends…..we’re off for more adventures today!
