Travel Journal: My Quest For The Highland Cows

Hamish

I think my obsession with Scotland and the Heilan Coos (Scots), started on our first trip 2 years ago.  I don’t know what it is that attracts me to them.  Maybe it’s that beautiful long hair, that hollers, “Get these bangs out of my eyes!”, or that they are just so darn cute.  Not to mention they are gentle giants and generally good natured and docile.

But oddly enough, they are very difficult for us tourists to find.  And if you are lucky enough to find one….be prepared to fight a huge crowd of people.  It’s rare that you are the only one taking a coo picture.  But when you see one, you better snap it!

Since we have logged thousands of mile in road tripping around Scotland, we have been lucky enough to have seen many Heilan Coos.

So here on Skye, we have spotted a few herds, like this guy above.   Of course he was along a busy highway.  And the minute we pulled over, there were 5 car loads of people right behind us.

So our Coo hunt continues on Isle of Skye….!  But, if all else fails, I have do have some secret spots around the highlands,  I know of.

Just a short post today…with our Coo update!

Happy Trails Everyone 👣

We only saw a couple of the coos! I can imagine everyone pulling up to take a photo. We’d probably stop too. They are so darn cute
